Children above age 4 years can start training at Zendankai, depending on their physical and attention readiness. Our kids’ classes are designed to develop discipline, confidence, coordination, focus, fitness and practical self-defense awareness in an age-appropriate manner.
Yes. We have training programs for adults, including beginners. You do not need any previous martial arts experience to start. Training combines traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate, physical conditioning and practical self-defense.

Yes. Zendankai also studies Okinawan Kobudo, the traditional martial art of Okinawan weapons.
Kobudo training complements Karate by developing coordination, distance awareness, timing, control and traditional martial arts skills.
Sports Karate generally focuses on competition rules, scoring and performance.
Traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu has a broader focus, including self-defense, close-distance techniques, body conditioning, breathing, traditional forms (Kata), partner training and martial arts principles.
At Zendankai, competition may be an option for interested students, but it is not the sole purpose of training.

For your first class, comfortable sports clothing and a water bottle are sufficient. Once you begin regular training, you can get the appropriate Karate Gi (uniform) as advised by the instructor.
